rachel carson lecture

Rachel Carson received her MA in Zoology from the Biology Department at
Johns Hopkins University in 1932. Her book, "Silent Spring" was published in 1962 and was referred to as the "beginning of the environmental era" by Al Gore. This book made the connection between the indiscriminate use of pesticides, such as DDT, and the destruction of animals and plants. She died in 1964.

May 27th, 2007 will be the 100th anniversary of her birth. We are celebrating this event with the Rachel Carson Lecture titled:
Reflections on Environmental R & D: From climate change to Bioremediation
by Aristides A.N. Patrinos, President, The Venter Institute.

Tuesday, June 5th, 4:00 PM - Mudd Auditorium.
